Bob Harris was made an OBE in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to Music Broadcasting
"I am delighted and honoured to be receiving such a prestigious accolade. Given that I have just celebrated my 40th year of music broadcasting on the BBC, and the 40th anniversary of the Old Grey Whistle Test, I feel truly blessed to still be doing something that I love so much. To be nationally recognized for my contribution to music broadcasting is incredible. I would also like to thank all the wonderful artists I have featured throughout my career - new music is the life blood of all I do."
'I'd like to send huge congratulations from everyone at Radio 2 to Bob Harris on being awarded an OBE. He has tirelessly promoted great music from around the globe for so many years, and it's hugely satisfying to see him rewarded for his efforts.'
- Bob Shennan, Controller Radio 2.
