I've got Good Dog Bad Dog, Drunkard's Prayer, Ohio, Films For Radio and Discount Fireworks and they're all consistently brilliant - but I don't think they're like Trumpet Child...so you may not like them.
Been a while since we had flaming here... |

| Which is your favourite Les? Yeh I'm not going to bed yet incase I miss something. I'm waiting for Pauly C to unleash one from at least 30 yards out in injury time. |

Good Dog Bad Dog - mainly because 'Latter Days' is on it, Discount Fireworks is probably a better 'taster'
I've got work in the morning, so you're on your own now...play nice! |

| The track is THE UNGUARDED MOMENT from the first CHURCH album from 1981. I now find it on my recently purchased Rhino box set Children Of Nuggets. Excellent. |

| I've been listening to the new Andrea Glass album 'Sold Under Stars' over the last few weeks on her My Space. The track 'Silent' reminds me of the Lori Mckenna song Fireflies which is no bad thing. I'm playing it virtually every night at the moment and I will be buying this album. Very nice stuff. |

Just been listening to North Wind by Andrea Glass on a replay of Bob's Country show just as I read your comment on the album. Worth a listen I think... BTW I hope we are not going to be in competition with the star rating - I was a bit perturbed when I got mine. Oh, happy 60th! Kirkie

I must say that did sound rather good as did Bob playing "Bob" from the Drive-by Truckers. I just love the lyric;
"Every week at the beauty shop Bob's mama hears of another woman made another man disappear Robert ain't exactly scared of women, he's just got his own way of living"
Another Cooley corker! |

have to agree re: our Andrea. Great songrwiting, conjures up all sorts of mental images. She's a lovely lass too, and I know she reads these pages so she'll be happy to see these kind words!

Yes PaulyC, even I thought she was good............far,far better than those no hopers called Blackhead or whatever they call themselves. And on that, lets not perpetuate that discussion/thread any more by commenting to that thread as the band has been promoted enough by their Fan Club and us rising to their bait (Remember Bad Promotion is better than No Promotion). We would be better promoting and giving support to artists like Andrea Glass than to helping bands get to Top of the Pops.............................. in Wales or the Truckers and Drivers Magazine Poll
Harry
PS PaulyC, I don't always agree with you but your reply to Dr Hargreaves Comment about the tone of this Board, was spot on.........I couldn't have put it better myself. I LOL at you comments about this Board being like a Local Pub....in your story I was probably arrested by the Cops for being "hateful" and shouting "unfair comments"....it was superb or should I say it was a riot Les, should give you an Honorary Award or a Gold Star for that Comment.I certainly would give you it. |

| This week, I 'ave been mostly playing....almost anything by Richard Marx! But most particularly, Keep Coming Back (Rush Street 1991) and Don't Mean Nothing (Richard Marx 1987), featuring Eagles-ists Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmidt and Randy Meisner. Now seemingly largely overlooked, Marx certainly hit a purple patch back there in the mid-80's/early '90's. |

Les, I wasn't meaning me when I was talking about handing out special Gold Stars. I still think PaulyC deserves a special Gold Star for that once in a life time Achievement Award Comment to the Dr Harddoneby Thread. As I said, I don't always agree with him (PaulyC, you know fine rightly that I don't always agree with you) but his description of this Board is Spot on. future I will write knowing that we are all down at our favourite local, having a good time, listening to good music and having friendly discussions but if someone books that group The Blackheads (or should that be the Blockheads) I for one wont be there (in case the Talent Police take me away for causing a riot).........maybe I could go disguised as a Troll... HaHaHa
PS Les....only 19 more posts till I get that Gold Star |

From the Allman Brothers box set Dreams The Dickey Betts Band - Duane's Tune (p1988) - a classic Betts instrumental. Some great guitar from Betts and Warren Haynes. Also available on his solo album Pattern Disruptive. |

From the same Allman Brothers box set - Gregg Allman - Rain Dan Toler on acoustic guitar with the Charles May Ensemble Choir and Gregg on keyboards / stunning vocals. This was a previously unreleased track when the box set was released. I really can't understand why, it's class. |

Apart from the DBT's high mileage 'Brighter Than Creations Dark' album I really love "Byhalia Road", a track on Garrison Starr's new album 'The Girl That Killed September', fantastic melody and a return to form of the 'Airstreams & Satellites' album 4 years ago.

| LOU REED - SWEET JANE - from the album Rock 'n' Roll Animal or the 3cd box set Between Thought And Expression. This is probably the greatest 7:57 you'll ever listen to. The guitars of Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter trade licks for the first three minutes or so until Hunter starts riffing and the live audience erupt as Reed takes the stage. Then it's Sweet Jane all the way with the guys throwing solos at each other until it's over before you know it. Absolute classic stuff. I'll never get tired of this one. Olde Lou can be hard work at times but this is brilliant. |

I'm on a roll tonight. DION - from the album Bronx Blues: The Columbia Recordings 1962-1965. The tracks SPOONFUL and THE SEVENTH SON. He's starting to get out of the rock n roll thing here with these 2 very nice tracks. |

Glad to see that Mostly Autumn are getting so much interest after last night's play...I'm a huge MA fan and just like the Pink Floyd I find that each album they release becomes my favourite after a year or so of getting used to it. There are a number of tracks I can't stop playing on 'Heart Full of Sky' - 'Broken' being the most frequent according to the counter on my jukebox, but there are a number of others on the album following closely behind.

| On that same theme Lew (the numbers game), was playing a Bob Harris Presents in the car and enjoyed 16 Days so much, I promptly had to come in the door and put the Strangers Almanac version on the hi fi! Why oh why did Ryan Adams have to give up on Whiskeytown. |

I agree with you Stock Car G: '16 Days' is a Whiskeytown classic... Continuing the theme what about 'Stage One' by Tom Petty, 'Cloud Nine' by George Harrison and 'Back 2 Good' by Matchbox 20? We could go on forever, isn't this fun... Kirkie
