"Found during a listening-to-songs-with-pines-in-them,excursion on you tube" not in any way odd, at all, no, no! ;) great find, I like!

I've listened to more DDW than any other band over the past few years. Can't get enough of 'em.
Latest, Place I Left Behind, is their best for sure. Lead guy Ryan Boldt told me UK tour is not too far off. Dunno if that means 2012 or he was speaking in geological terms, and he wasn't saying.
tincanman2010, I only caught up with the DDW last year, hadn't heard their new one. They do seem extremely good, it's surprising more hasn't been heard of them.
Quite a funny comment, UK tour not being off possibly geologically presuambly he meant time wise. A lot of overseas bands/singers seem to be getting to Europe but the UK so much, cost I think.
The Place I Left Behind was my 4th pick for the Tincanland TOP 10 of 2011. (4th even though it was the one I listened to most only because the 3 above dealt with more substantive topics than wanderlust ... although some days, lol, it's pretty damn tempting to go walkabout!)
Quite a few venues! Glasgow is my nearest, relatively speaking - it's not exactly on the doorstep. Hope I might be able to get there.
I hope you find one that is more convenient than Brighton, perhaps Manchester from Liverpool might be easier!
Interesting that quite a few bands are bypassing Newcastle, another 1 had shows listed, none there, quite recently, can't think who it was. I noticed because Newcastle has such a thriving 'Americana' and related music reputation, so it seems surprising.
Failed to get to much live music last year, not sure how things will shape up this year.
Yeah, Manchester it is for me - if I can get tickets! I called the venue and they don't have tickets ... they said to contact the promoter who has rented the room, but no one seemed to know who that is.
That's odd, if the show is in February it ought to be 'geared up' by now for sales. I always find it frustrating not to be able to buy direct from a venue, and very weird if you can't find the promoter.
I wonder if the band know there is a glitch in the ticket sales process; might turn out that people try to book and give up, and not enough tickets get sold. Surely the venue ought to have the contact details for the sale of tickets, it's in their interests too I would have thought!
Perhaps they're not anticipating many advance bookings before February.
I'm just playing through last nights Bob Show and checking out Les' links to the albums I see that Amazon are offering The Deep Dark Woods - The Place I Left Behind for £17.60 but it's temporarily out of stock with them. Checked the bands website and it's available there for $14.99 plus the shipping to the UK of $4.99, so that's $19.98 or £13.04 to us. There's no way I'd pay £17.60 for a single cd and to tell you the truth I get a nose bleed if I pay more than £12 . Now where else can I look for this?

I've never bought from the alternative suppliers on Amazon Les, although they seem to be more common on there now. Just a bit wary of them and maybe a bit worried that I'd get a dodgy one perhaps.
Mind you, I can't remember when I had a problem last with a cd or record through mail order so maybe I should give some of these guys a go. I tend to stick to my tried and trusted suppliers.
I go entirely by price with Amazon - if the marketplace price is cheaper, taking shipping into account, I go with that - never had a problem with any of them.
Totally agree with that Les. I always just buy on price and even with the rock-bottom-ites, I've never had a problem. Same goes for books, incidentally.
Haven't caught up with last night's show yet, wish I could stay awake to hear as it's broadcast! tincanman, was thinking about that after logging off yesterday; seems really odd the venue didn't give the promoter details immediately as if they've booked the room, their name and contact must be there! Wonder if anyone else knows that venue it sounds a strange reaction.
My preference is always to buy CDs direct from bands where possible, sometimes it's just more convenient to get them elsewhere and I buy CDs from shops too, although that's going out of fashion I would pay £15.00 but many brilliant CDs are of course less. Sounds as if there is quite a profit margin on the highly priced one online!
The band might have some 'merchandise' with them when they're over here though for those who can wait for the CD until February.
That line made me laughregarding the inactive website saying it's re-opened. Let's hope so, if they are booking out rooms to bands.
You might find ringing again you get someone who immediately knows the name of the promoter of the show and gives you contact details. The info you got before sounded as if they just took the booking of the room and weren't really interested beyond that.
If the staff always answer queries in that way it might explain the closure which has been followed by them re-opening
Thank you whisperers for bringing this band to my attention and to Bob for playing the track on Sunday AM. Have been checking out their work on Youtube and Tincanland sites , yet again another top notch act emerges fron North America. Shall be spending the hard earnt on their CD's and hoping to catch them at the Railway Winchester on SAT 18th Feb. Looks like that will be a good weekend as Ainsley Lister is playing acoustic on Fri 17th at the Southsea Cellars. Happy Days
I have Lister's Pilgrimmage but found the guitar a little overdone for my tastes. Good songs though, so an acoustic set might be just the thing. You'll report back, I'm sure!
Not only got DDW tickets for Manchester @isobel, I got Joe Pug for the next night too!
I have 2 tickets available for DDW in Brighton. If anyone can use them msg me. They're £7 each but I'm not looking for money - it was cheaper to buy tickets for the show they added in Manchester than pay train fare to Brighton.
The more I hear the more I like. Shame they are not touring mainland Europe (only 1 date in Holland) but I dare say they'll be back. By the way, I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that this is a (superb) cover of the Willard Grant Conspiracy song from 'Regard The End' ...first heard on Bob's 6 music show many moons ago.
I agree Phil, and am surprised they're not more well known.
Some bands are touring more in mainland Europe than UK so it's surprising that they're primarily here. I'd really like to hear them but I've got an op. coming up and it's likely to be right at the wrong moment from the getting this band's tour dates.
I've become an expert at missing shows, it's a trend I'd like to end!
