The "Whispering Bobcast" - episode 4, featuring John Smith, Kathleen Edwards & Richard Thompson

Episode 4 was not uneventful!

We lost the stream for a while - just in the middle of John Smith’s set - but the lads at Northern Cowboy Films saved the day as John patiently waited to finish his interview and song, and just as importantly those viewers watching live waited patiently for us to resume.

There's a wonderful interview with Richard Thompson , a cracking set & interview with John Smith, and a performance from Kathleen Edwards that frankly left everyone in the studio & viewers alike in pieces… unmissable!

By 2014, singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards had released four studio albums and amassed widespread critical acclaim. She had been touring since the release of her 2012 albumVoyag eur. She put her guitar away, at least for awhile. But in 2018, she received an unexpected phone call that changed that. Maren Morris, a longtime fan, invited her to Nashville for a songwriting session. Edwards accepted, and “Good Woman,” their collaboration, wound up on Morris’ 2019 album, GIRL.

Richard Thompson
Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson is a world-renowned singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known for his work in the folk rock group Fairport Convention. Rolling Stone named him as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time. Thompson has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting on both sides of the Atlantic, and is the recipient of an Ivor Novello Award. He was awarded an OBE in 2011. He continues to write and record new material, and frequently performs live at venues throughout the world.

John Smith was born in Essex and raised on the Devon seaside. Known for his intimate songwriting, his honey-on-gravel voice and pioneering guitar playing, he has spent the last fifteen years touring internationally and has amassed over 40 million streams on Spotify. As a session musician he has played guitar with artists as diverse as Joan Baez, David Gray, Joe Henry, Lianne La Havas and Tom Jones.
